I’ve just come back from beautiful Santorini. It’s the most beautiful place I’ve ever been to, without any doubt. I had to choose between Santorini and Mykonos for my first ever trip to Greece, but finally my choice felt on Santorini. I was surprised it was not only all about luxury hotels and turquoise pools, but mainly about the white architecture, cute houses and pastel-colored doors, spiraling paths between them, old school restaurants, which strongly reminded me of milk bars when I was in a high school in Poland and of course the incredible sunset views to the Aegean Sea. In short, I strongly recommend visiting Santorini to anyone!
WHEN? The best time to visit Santorini is not during the high season, but just before or after it, so in May / early June or October. There are three reasons. First of all, it’s less busy, which is very important because it’s a very small island. Secondly it’s not too hot but you can still enjoy sunny, warm weather and wear a bikini all day long. Finally it’s much cheaper and just affordable.
WHERE: Aqua Luxury Suites in Imerovigli. It’s a less popular village than Oia, but still very beautiful and much less crowded. In Aqua Luxury Suites you’ll have your own terrace with a stunning sea view. Some suites and apartments have their own pool, which makes your stay more or less like from a dream 🙂
FLIGHT: We flew to Santorini directly from London. It was quite a long flight, almost 4 hours on a plane which was a bit exhausting for me, especially because it was a cheaper airline. The airport in Santorini is tiny and, I’m not afraid to say, below standard. It’s very ironic, because the island is famous from it’s luxury hotels. As they say, ‘Nothing is for free’ and in this case it’s not about money.
EAT: Don’t expect any popular fast-food chain restaurants or cafes. In Santorini you’ll find a lot of traditional restaurants with Greek Cuisine. Try Saganaki ( fried cheese in filo pastry ) , Tomato – kefides or just greek salad made with fresh vegetables. In the grocery stores there is a huge range of olives, nuts and other Greek speiclities. For the sweet tooth try baclava!
( Apart ‘A’ necklace & rings , Artelioni gold bracelet & here, Artelioni ring, Comme Des Garcon clutch via Monnier Freres, Bergstern watch, Senso shoes, H&M off-the shoulder dress, Urban Outfitters playsuit )
